The only things you'd ever really need to blind are melee classes, which would probably be within range anyway...

If they are linked to the natural spell's attribute only.

So you might as well switch sets accordingly or run a staff.

Rangers and Paragons, especially Rangers with interrupts. Blind is already covered by [Steam], so tossing in a touch skill just puts you at a disadvantage. And if you are a 60AL target with melee on top of you, you should be kiting, not touching, unless your build is designed for it.

I've been really hoping this thread would die since SoI has been dead for ages.
It's a complete and utter waste of a PvE elite. Even more so after the introduction of PvE skills, since they enable you to run 3 skills at maximum efficiency without spending a single attribute point. Which means you can max out 2 lines and you only need to fill 5 slots with those two lines.

But since it doesn't want to die, let's make this constructive:

Just to give you some ideas

1. The most commonly commented issue about this build was LTouch.
And they are right. LTouch is shit.
Because it's not a spell. Thus completely unaffected by SoI.

2. The Water Hex that would serve as the base for LTouch is Blurred.
LTouch and Blurred have the same effect.

3. EShakless is a slowdown. The point of a slowdown would be to throw it on a non-priority target and not bother with this target until you kill off his buddies. For EShakless to work - you need to spam your damage dealing skill on the hexed target. Which means you've slowed down your priority target. Which makes no sense since you are about to kill it.

4. Given Immolate's recharge you need to spam it on the EShackled dude to keep him slowed down. Which kinda means the only target you can blind with Steam is the slowed down melee dude. If he is slowed down - he is useless already.

Basically:
[Blinding Surge (pve)] and [Deep Freeze] (works superbly at 0 Water!) do what your whole build does.

For my raptor nestling farm, I use:

[Signet of Illusion][Stoneflesh Aura][Armor of Earth][Magnetic Aura][Sliver Armor][Radiation Field][Channeling][Mantra of Concentration]
Ill 12 + 1 + 3
Insp 9 + 1
Fast 8 + 1
(I think those are the stats, I'm not sure)

You can swap Radiation Field for [Ebon Battle Standard of Honor], but I find Radiation Field to be a bit faster.

SoI is great on Mes if you are running a farm, but it will almost always be slower than the class you are emulating. The raptor farm takes 60-90 seconds with an Ele; it takes me 90-120 seconds.

Likewise, I have a 55 Mes [Illusionary Weapon] that can farm a lot of places, but it is awfully slow.

So unless you find a Mes build that is specifically built to farm an area, it won't be the most efficient. That doesn't mean it can't be done. I just do it because my Mes it my first toon, and has access to more places in the game (and I don't have any toons that are good farmers that are anywhere close to being ready to farm).

All that being said, SoI is very useful if you want to use your Mes to farm, just understand that it wont always be the most efficient method.
